This isn't the Pride we wanted, but it's the Pride we need right now.
The purpose of Pride is to stand proudly, oftentimes in defiance of segments of society, and loudly proclaim that we of the LGBTQIA+ community will stand together and be counted, and be heard. This is why we gather in public spaces and push back against the forces that would see us remain in the closet every Pride season. As our community knows all too well, gathering closely together during times of pandemic is dangerous, and so we as your NoWoCo Pride Board of Directors, though it breaks our hearts to do so, have chosen to hold Northern Worcester County's Pride festivities entirely online for this 2020 season. While we recognize that during this time of extreme sociopolitical polarization our voices being heard in the town square is all the more important, we also recognize that the town square has moved online, and so shall we.
Our theme for this year's Pride is "Stand Together & Be Counted", and so we encourage the entire LGBTQIA+ community and allies to join us on Facebook Live for our Virtual Pride Weekend Events:
Thursday, July 9th, 3 - 3:30 pm Virtual Flag Raising via Facebook Live
Thursday, July 9th, 5 - 7 pm Virtual Pride Happy Hour via Facebook Live
Friday, July 10th, 6 - 8:30 pm Virtual Naughty Drag Bingo via Zoom Meeting Must be 18+ to play
